A Life Saved

Diamond was found alone and emaciated on the street. A kind person took her to a local shelter where she lived for a month. Diamond was not gaining weight, and needed additional medical attention…and there was no time to waste.

We immediately agreed to help this sweet soul, who despite her very upsetting condition, remained full of life and love. Diamond was rushed to West Orange Veterinary Hospital

where she was so loved during her stay. The staff treated her like family. It was there that we learned that starvation was not the only cause of Diamond’s frail condition. Diamond was diagnosed with a splenic mass, and needed surgery immediately to give her any chance of survival.

A search began for a surgeon who was able to do surgery and a blood transfusion quickly. Thanks to wonderful our Dr Perez, Diamond was scheduled with the most talented and compassionate surgeon we know.

Then, yet another angel entered Diamond’s life. Ryn, an experienced and loving foster, took Diamond home for the weekend, and then for her lifesaving surgery. We all held our breath as we waited to hear that she had made it through surgery, as under normal circumstances, we would have waited for Diamond to gain some weight before putting her body through such a trauma.

Diamond, in true Diamond form, didn’t just survive that surgery…but as you can see from these heartwarming photos, she is thriving. This sweet, affectionate, energetic, playful girl is an inspiration. ..and we are so excited to share that her splenic tumor was BENIGN!!!

Diamond was also spayed, but is not out of the woods yet. Due to the fact that she remained unspayed for so long, Diamond has many mammary tumors. These tumors couldn’t be removed, as that would have been too much at once for our special girl.

What’s next for Diamond? For the moment, continuing to enjoy her new life. We will revisit the possibility of additional surgery as well as holistic options once she heals from her recent surgery.

Thank you from the bottom of our “Hharts” ❤️ to everyone who played a part in this miracle. Together we saved this very precious life.
